The Golden Age’s Distressing Workshop

By Ashley-Rose Galligan

Congratulations to all of those that were a part of Emerson Stage’s The Golden Age, which just closed this weekend in the Paramount Black Box.

Here is a quick look into the process of The Golden Age, which shows Emerson Stage collaborating with an outside professional, Denise Wallace, in The Distressing Workshop.  The workshop worked with the Costume Shop and some of the Design/ Tech students to further the process of The Golden Age.

A statement from Heather Wise, a sophmore BFA Design/ Technology student:

“The Distressing Workshop with Denise Wallace was great! She worked with us individually and as a group to help us lean and understand techniques we can use to distress all of the costumes in The Golden Age. With the guidance Denise gave us we were able to start on projects that we have been finishing up on our own in the Craft room. Denise’s time and help has been invaluable in the distressing process for this show and I hope she can help us again in the future!”
