Entertaining Political Theater

This week ArtsEmerson is presenting Ameriville, a show that has been called “political theater made entertaining.”

After our successful presentation of Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 and its focus on the social and racial struggles that are part of the American reality, Ameriville continues the motif by examining our country through the lens of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath.

This show, performed by the young and energetic ensemble company, Universes, will circle around the themes of race, poverty, politics, history and government. Most importantly, this story will not only be about the difficulties but also the underlying strengths within America.

Ameriville calls us to take action, challenging its audience to work towards a brighter future for America.

Tomorrow through Sunday, Ameriville will be playing at the Paramount Mainstage, offering a “collision of storytelling and spoken word” along with rhythms of jazz, gospel, and hip hop that will “change your concept of musical theater.”

Who would want to miss a night of fun, eclectic musical talent and incredible energy?
